Tyler, TX, April 24, 2014- Eighty-five percent of heart damage occurs within the first two hours of a heart attack; however many people do not recognize their symptoms. Early heart attack care is knowing the subtle danger signs of a heart attack and acting upon them immediately.

On April 29, 2014, Better Business Bureau Serving Central East Texas will welcome Tom Dupree, Chest Pain and Stroke Coordinator with Longview Regional Medical Center as the next guest speaker at the BBB Longview Morning Mixer event. Dupree will discuss early heart attack prevention and stroke awareness during his program titled “How to Handle Stress in The Workplace”.

Dupree has been with Longview Regional Medical Center for thirteen years and has a background in both emergency and critical care as a registered nurse. The speaker is active in the Longview community and has served as the stroke and chest pain coordinator for four years, where he works to educate the community on how to recognize the signs of heart attack and work towards prevention.

“The biggest hurdle people face regarding quality of life is that they do not recognize early heart attack symptoms and there is a danger in that,” said Tom Dupree, RN with Longview Regional Medical Center, “Preventive care and recognition is what we try to educate people on”.

BBB Serving Central East Texas aims to create a community of well-run, ethical, and like-minded businesses through quarterly workshops which are held at the East Texas Builders Association.

There is no charge for the event and breakfast is provided for those in attendance.
