SULPHUR SPRINGS — The world-famous Budweiser Clydsdales will make several appearances during the festivities of the 55th annual Hopkins County Dairy Festival taking place at various locations around Sulphur Springs from June 13-21.
Harnessed to the famous Budweiser wagon, the eight-horse hitch is featured at the Dairy Festival parade Saturday, June 14 as well as at other events leading up to the event. Their appearance helps pay tribute to the history of the dairy industry when milk was picked up and delivered by horse-drawn wagons.
In addition to the parade numerous other activities take place throughout Sulphur Springs including the Texas State Champion Ice Cream Freeze Off, a cow-milking contest by the Dairy Festival Queen contestants and others, the Northeast Texas Dairy Cattle show, dairy food contests, a carnival, 5K milk run, cow patty bingo, the Dairy Festival Queens Coronation, and a hot air balloon rally.
The Hopkins County Dairy Festival is a celebration of the rich heritage of the dairy farmers and industry in the county. It began in the 1930’s and continues to be their top agriculture enterprise. The festival is a salute to the hard-working dairy farmers and their families that contribute so richly to the local economy and quality of life in the area.

Sulphur Springs is a thriving community in Northeast Texas where residents and visitors alike gather on the downtown square for special events or simply to stroll around the plaza or play a giant chess or checkers game. There’s a thriving farmers’ market on Saturday mornings and a market celebration on Saturday nights. A lighted, interactive fountain in the shape of the Texas star, illuminated with ultra violet light is a favorite with kids. The plaza includes the award-winning Hopkins County vintage courthouse and a stunning veterans memorial with granite walls, waterfalls, statue, benches, and even a kiosk where visitors can learn more about the veterans. Sulphur Springs also has an attraction that’s both whimsical and practical: one of the only see-through public restrooms in the world – built with one-way mirrors so people inside can see out, but those outside cannot see in. Several restaurants and shopping opportunities make this a great day trip or overnight getaway. There are nine hotels nearby, major lakes and recreational attractions, 3,000 acres of parks, museums, and an award-winning airport. Festivals, concerts, and other events are held regularly on the downtown square and at the Hopkins County Civic Center. For more information about Sulphur Springs call 903.885.5614
