May 14, 2014- East Texas Communities Foundation will award $237,650 in scholarships to high school and college students from East Texas for the 2014-15 school year. New scholarship recipients will be honored at a reception at Marvin United Methodist Church on Thursday May 15th at 5:30 p.m. Eighty scholarships totaling $166,150 will be announced at the event. Scholarship amounts range from $400-$8,000 per student.

In addition, $71,500 in scholarship renewals will be distributed later this summer, making a total of over $237,650 in scholarship grants in 2014 from 39 different scholarship funds at East Texas Communities Foundation.

“As East Texas Communities Foundation celebrates its 25th Anniversary it is fitting that we are able to award the largest amount of scholarship dollars in our history. The quality of applicants from across East Texas is very impressive each year. We are honored to help these deserving students continue their education and grateful for the opportunity to fulfill the charitable goals of the many individuals, organizations, and families who have made it possible,” said Kyle Penney, President of East Texas Communities Foundation.
