In a program of musical children's stories to kick off the Franklin County libraries summer reading program, Mount Vernon Music presents Villains and Sweethearts, performed by the Orchard Ensemble and narrated by Sherry Daniel.
Children of all ages will love how poetry, music and illustrations give a new slant on old tales, as the roaring giant from Jack and the Beanstalk, the Prince climbing to meet Rapunzel, and one very hungry wolf from Little Red Riding Hood finally get to tell their side of the story.
The concert in Mount Vernon Music Hall on Monday, June 16 at 2 PM will open with performances by winners of MvM's Betty Whitlock scholarship awards.
Admission is free. Memberships in MVM start at $25 and are good for the entire season from June 1 through May 31. For more information call Mount Vernon Music at 903-563-3780, or visit www.mountvernonmusic.org.
