The Food Protection Management Instructor Training was conducted in May at Texas A&M University by the Extension Service’s Nutrition and Food Science Department.
Mrs. York is now qualified to teach anyone in the food industry in management positions, and teach food handling training to workers, she said. Those workers would include even those working in concession stands and school cafeterias — anyone “working with food in a public setting,” she noted.
The Food Protection Management Program offered by the Extension Service not only offers food safety education for retail food establishments in Texas, but also prepares students for the ANSI-CFP Accredited Certified Professional Food Manager Examination (CPFM).
The program additionally offers the Food Handlers certification accredited by the Texas Dept. of State Health Services.
