"Russell Athletic could not be happier to partner with such a tremendous university like A&M-Commerce," Russell Athletic Senior Vice President General Manager Robby Davis said. "We look forward to being able to showcase A&M-Commerce athletes in the best of Russell Athletic."
“We are excited about our partnership with Russell Athletic,” Ryan Ivey, Athletics Director at A&M-Commerce said. “Securing a quality apparel partnership is a great way to enhance our brand and provide our student-athletes with an exceptional student-athlete experience. The Lions football team is the first team to enjoy a complete uniform overhaul. The new home and away uniforms features Russell’s new MSC fabric with improved durability along with mesh construction for breathability and the new RussTwill decoration that reduces jersey weight and gives stretch for an airtight fit.
The football team’s new uniform reveal brings new features to the Lion look. The traditional home gold pants have the Lions script down the side of the pants in a blue stripe. The jersey are an upgrade into the moderns arms race with the sleek style and piping round the uniform tops. Fans will also notice shoulder numbers on both the home and away tops. The reveal Wednesday also features new gloves with the Lion head logo proudly displayed on the palms. All told the Lions have six different uniform combinations at their disposal.
“We were really excited to go with Russell, as they are top of the line when it comes to football uniforms,” A&M – Commerce head football coach Colby Carthel said. “We gave our seniors several different options to choose from, and the Russell jerseys were the hands down favorite. The saying is if you look good, you'll play good. Well, we've at least got the first part down.”
