At the mid-point during preseason camp, the Lions scrimmaged Saturday Morning
Commerce, Texas – With the start of football season 12 days away and A&M – Commerce classes starting on Monday, the Lion football team hit the mid-point of its fall camp with the first of two preseason scrimmages Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
The Lions ran roughly 100 plays in front of close to 200 fans on attendance. Both the offense and defense came up with big plays. The defense recorded five stops on downs, while the offense connected on several big plays and touchdowns. Tyrik Rollison and Ricky Collins connected on two touchdown passes, including a 98-yard catch and run pass that Collins caught, broke a tackle and dashed towards the end zone. Rollison also had touchdown run of 15-yards on a scramble play. Deric Davis also delivered a touchdown pass with his strike coming from 18 yards out.
A&M – Commerce is slated for one more scrimmage, Thursday, August 28, before the season opener Thursday, September 4 at 6 p.m. against East Texas Baptist at Memorial Stadium. Preseason camp runs through Friday, August 29.
