Statement from Bill Hammond regarding today’s school finance ruling
AUSTIN, TX— The following statement may be attributed to Bill Hammond, CEO, Texas Association of Business.
“It is a disappointment that this ruling does not appear to order the legislature to consider increased efficiencies in the system,” said Bill Hammond, CEO of the Texas Association of Business. “Simply throwing more money at our education system doesn’t make it better without finding a way to deliver education in an efficient and effective manner. I wonder, however, with the Texas Education Agency saying 85 percent of our campuses meet state standards, and reporting a record low number of drop-outs, if more money is really needed.”
