Nearly $1 Million in Scholarships Available for Members

WoodmenLife Reinforces Commitment to Youth, Education

OMAHA, NE (01/08/2018– WoodmenLife recognizes the value of education and knows it is essential to support its youth members on their individual paths to success.

To do just that, the organization funds the WoodmenLife Focus Forward Scholarship® as one of its member benefits. Now in its second year, the program makes nearly $1 million available for 2017 and 2018 high school graduates who meet specific WoodmenLife membership qualifications.

The top award is $25,000. There is also one $20,000 award, one $10,000 award, ten $1,000 awards and up to 1,700 $500 awards to spend on 2- or 4-year college, university or technical school tuition, fees, books, housing, meals plans and required supplies.

Scholarships are based on a variety of student achievements in their classrooms and communities. Applicants are asked about their academic performance, career goals, and school and community involvement. The scholarship process also factors in patriotism and a recommendation from a person who knows the student well. Financial need is not a consideration.

Applicants can submit the required information online through Feb. 28 through a link on the WoodmenLife corporate site: WoodmenLife.org.

Last year’s $25,000 recipient, from Carthage, MS, is now at the University of Mississippi, where he is majoring in pre-med. He excelled in the classroom and the community, where he helped collect more than $80,000 in donations to improve the lives of nursing home residents.

WoodmenLife is proud to support its young members in their educational endeavors.
“Youth have always played an important role in our organization,” said WoodmenLife President & CEO Patrick L. Dees. “We are honored to present scholarships to the young people who exemplify our organization’s commitment to family, community and country.”
