The American Competitive Trail Horse Association returns to Texas Rose Horse Park July 11, 2009 for another run at the “natural” obstacles scattered across TRHP’s 1700 acres. Their first competition in Tyler earlier this year, March 2009, was a great success, but this time competitors will be going for national points and a chance at a prize purse of $25,000! The National High Point winner can take home up to $10,000. Top winners in the 5 national regions can look to win up to $2,500 each. The ACTHA is a horse-friendly, rider-friendly, organization which is rapidly growing in popularity across the United States. Their slogan of “Not Just a Trail Horse Anymore,” mirrors that of Texas Rose Horse Park’s “Where the Best Come to Compete”. A major part of the ACTHA is their stated mission as an organization to stamp out horse hunger and neglect. As part of this effort, and the $25,000 purse, $5,000 will be given to a National horse charity as selected by a vote of ACTHA’s membership. The award will be made by ACTHA and its members on behalf of the national high point winner. Up to 50% of ACTHA’s proceeds go directly to horse charities on a regular basis.

Stampede Feed & Ag Supply of Tyler has generously agreed to sponsor the upcoming ACTHA event at Texas Rose Horse Park. Stampede will be providing the $525.00 in prize money for the various class winners. This is in addition to the $25,000 in prize money that will be awarded at year's end by the ATCHA.

This relatively young organization, (3 years), offers horses and riders alike the opportunity to compete in challenging, but safe, trail courses across the United States. The March ride at Texas Rose Horse Park drew riders and horses from as far away as San Antonio, riding horses ranging from Trakehners, Arabians, Tennessee Walkers, to the always dependable Quarter Horses. Riders’ ages at this event ranged from 7 years to 60. Now, with $25,000 added to the fun who knows what combinations of horses and riders will be drawn into the competition. Check the Texas Rose Horse Park event schedule, ww.texasrosehorsepark.com for updates or the www.actha.us website for more information. Texas Rose Horse Park is located at 14078 State Hwy. 110N, Tyler, Texas.
