Northeast Texas Community College will offer special enrollment workshops to assist Trade Adjustment Assistance-approved students who plan to start classes in the fall semester.

Six sessions will be held July 28, 29 and Aug. 4 on the NTCC main campus. Sessions will cover everything students need to know to get enrolled for the fall. Topics will include completing the NTCC admissions application, placement testing and career and class advisement.

“This event is specifically tailored to the needs of TAA-approved US Steel employees. We understand that going back to school can be a daunting process for displaced workers, but we will have all of the resources they need available so that they can start training right away,” Lynda Watson, NTCC Coordinator of Career Services/Advisor, said.

Two sessions will be held each day. The first will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon and the second will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Participants are asked to register for the day and time of their choice by calling 903-897-2935. All sessions will be held in the Student Union Building on the NTCC campus.

“We encourage everyone who has been approved for TAA funds to attend one of these sessions. Whether you have been a student before or you haven’t filled out an application yet, we will have advisors on hand to assist you with your individual concerns,” Watson said.

Students who have completed courses at other colleges are encouraged to bring their transcripts with them to the workshops.

The fall semester at NTCC begins Monday, Aug. 24. Early enrollment is currently underway. To view the Fall schedule and to learn more about NTCC, please visit www.ntcc.edu/Schedules/Fall09Sched.pdf or go to www.ntcc.edu/Schedules
