‘Workers’ Compensation Overview for Employers’ seminar offered in Longview Nov. 4

The Kilgore College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will sponsor an educational seminar, “Workers’ Compensation Overview for Texas Employers,” on Wednesday, Nov. 4, in Longview.

The workshop is intended for employers, business owners, business managers, human resource managers, health and safety officers and insurance professionals.

The seminar, presented by the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (TDI-DWC), will provide information on the following topics:

roles and responsibilities of system participants

functions of the Office of Injured Employee Counsel

functions and services provided by the TDI-DWC to system participants

examination of medical and income benefits in a claim and the process of resolving disputes about those benefits

how to successfully return employees to work after a workplace injury

The educational seminar will provide a comprehensive overview of the Texas workers’ compensation system and discussion of the Return-to-Work program.

TDI-DWC will provide six general insurance continuing education credits. Attendees must provide their license number at the seminar to receive credits.

The seminar will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hampton Inn & Suites − Longview North, Neal McCoy Room, 3044 Eastman Road in Longview.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. The cost is $99 per person which includes continental breakfast and snacks.
