American Legion State Commander expresses condolences over Ft. Hood Shooting

AUSTIN (Nov. 6, 2009) — American Legion State Commander Don Daft released the following statement concerning this afternoon’s shootings at Ft. Hood:

“Our thoughts and prayer go out to the Soldiers, Families and the entire Fort Hood Community in this difficult time”. Daft added “In times like these we must all work together to assist the individuals involved on all fronts. The American Legion Members from Texas stand ready to assist any soldiers, family members or other victims of this horrible tragedy in any way possible. Currently we have the State Headquarters in Austin, American Legion Post 223 in Killeen, American Legion Post 582 in Copperas Cove, and American Legion Post 573 in Harker Heights standing by to lend whatever assistance might be needed in the area.

Commander Daft also encourages all members of The American Legion Family and the members of our local community to do their part and help out by donating blood in your local community.
