Three students at The University of Texas at Tyler were selected to participate in a community service trip to Costa Rica, Ona Tolliver, Office of Student Life and Leadership director, announced.

UT Tyler graduate students Tammy Clements of Tyler and Marc Randle of Edgewood and senior Kaitlin Brown of Amarillo will travel to Liberia, Costa Rica May 10 –19, 2010 and serve in various capacities in urban and rural areas.

UT Tyler has partnered with Tyler Junior College for the first time in this program to offer the travel/service opportunity to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Applicants were chosen based on a letter of recommendation from a professor, employer or community service representative, verification of interest in community service, leadership skills, and participation in university and community events, minimum 3.0 GPA requirement and full-time student status.

“I am extremely honored to be a part of the service trip to Costa Rica. I look forward to being a representative of UT Tyler and to encourage future UT Tyler student to join the program as well,” said Brown.
