Dustin Hardin went all seven innings against Jefferson. He also was the leading hitter, going two-for-three with two doubles. He scored the winning run in the sixth.
Ben Griffith got the loss when the Roughnecks silenced the Gilmer bats.

The Buckeyes opened their season with a win over Mineola, 5-2, with Chesnut on the mound. Chesnut went all seven innings, gave up two runs while striking out 10 in a 2-hitter.
Luke Turner made some great plays at shortstop for the Buckeye defense, and Andrew McAfee went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Last week, Gilmer got in three games in the Van-Canton Tourament which was shortened by the weather.
In the opener, the Buckeyes won over Van 9-8. Dustin Hardin got the win, and Jordan Traylor finished up for Gilmer. The Buckeyes were 9-1 going into the final inning when the error bug hit.
Colton Hill went one-for-two with two runs scored as he hit a home run, and Turner went one-for-two with a run scored.
In the second game at Van, Greenville won 6-3 with Same Haynes the losing pitcher for Gilmer.
Saturday, Feb.27, the Buckeyes got back on the winning track. Gilmer defeated Maybank 6-1 with Chesnut getting his second win of the season. Traylor pitched 1 2/3 innings and Ben Griffith the last inning.
Dustin Hardin hit a double which scored two runs, and Mikey Wilson went one-for-two and scored a run.
