“We are very excited to present Barefoot in the Park. We have a wonderfully talented cast in place and I feel confident that it will be an enjoyable production,” Douglas Hoppock, NTCC Theatre Director, said.
Originally presented on Broadway in 1963, featuring Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley and running for four years and 1530 performances, Barefoot in the Park marked the arrival of Neil Simon on Broadway as a comic genius. This classic romantic comedy chronicles the first six days of marriage for newlyweds Paul, a buttoned-down, straight-arrow lawyer, and Corie, a romantic and effervescent free spirit.
Add Corie’s widowed mother and their Bohemian upstairs neighbor to the mix and laughter abounds. Barefoot in the Park features Angela Horn (Mineola) as the free-spirited Corie and Stephen Graham (Mount Pleasant) as the up-tight Paul. Cole Risner (Pittsburg) plays Mr. Velsaco, the crazy neighbor and Holly McCoy (Daingerfield) the proper Mother. Eric Staples (Daingerfield) and Johnny Vannier (Bonham) round out the ensemble cast. The production stage manager is Naomi Taylor (Mount Pleasant.) Assistant stage managers are Gabrielle Silvey (Winnsboro) and Whitney Dawson (Mount Pleasant.) Barefoot in the Park is directed by Hoppock.
