GILMER BUCKEYES COACH Jeff Traylor congratulates his team on their 35-23 win over the West Orange-Stark Mustangs at Abe Martin Stadium in Lufkin last Saturday. The Buckeyes (12-1) are now 3-0 in the playoffs with three more to go, if they keep on winning. Next up are the Carthage Bulldogs (11-2) in Nacogdoches Saturday night. Many thanks to “Mike M” (see the open letter below) and others like him associated with the Mustangs for their compliments and certainly everyone associated with the Buckeyes also applauds the West Orange/Orange area and WOS for their class and sportsmanship as well.

I am a West Orange Stark football fan. I witnessed the game between Gilmer and WOS last Saturday in Lufkin.

It was a clean, hard-fought football game between two very good teams.

But what I noticed the most was the sportsmanship of both the fans and the players from Gilmer.

These young people (football team, cheerleaders, band) represented their school and their city very well.

It is the parents, teacher and coaches that instill these values in our kids, and a great job is being done by all in the town of Gilmer, Texas. Best of luck to the Buckeyes.
